The club was formed in 1925 and plays on the bowling green in King George V Park on King Harald Street in Lerwick. This is the only lawn bowls green in Shetland and, we believe, it is the most northerly outdoor bowling green in the world.

The green is open from late April until early September and competitions are held every weekend and some mid-week evenings. There is always opportunity for practice or to learn how to play the game, if you have never tried before. Bowls, shoes and other equipment is available to borrow. We welcome visitors to Shetland to play on the green but contact will have to be made with a club member to make the arrangements.

If you wish to try bowls or to become a club member, contact any of the people listed on the contact page or speak to anyone you see playing on the green in summer.

Our indoor season is from 16th September to mid April. Hat night is Wednesday and Friday evenings at 6.55pm in Clickimin Leasure Centre. The game is over 18 ends which is completed in approx. 2 hours. The cost is £2.50 per person.

There will be strict rules as detailed in the News section of the website. Please note the entrance will be up the ramp beside the Bowlers Bar. Face coverings will need to be worn until start of play and there will only be a short time in which entry will be permitted.

All players will need to be members of LOBC in order to comply with track & trace and a fee of £10 for the winter sessions will apply for anyone who is not currently a member.

Please contact Mike Bailey or Ewen MacRitchie using the contact page for more details

on how to become a club member.
